Chelsea in Charles F. Stead Flint Calf Suede
Viberg is still owned and managed by the same family since its creation in 1931.
They use traditional manufacturing methods and only the best components sourced from around the world: custom brass nails from Japan, heavyweight insoles from Spain, Vibram outsoles from Italy, eyelets and hardware from the USA and more.
Much of the manufacturing process looks the same today as it did when Edwin Viberg founded the company nearly 100 years ago. They have managed to preserve his methods and quality, while selectively introducing modern materials and techniques.
Their uncompromising approach to quality extends all the way through to the leather sourcing philosophy. They travelled the world to find tanneries that embody the same old world ideals and small batch production that they aim to preserve. Their leathers come mostly from small, family run tanneries in the USA, UK, Italy, France, Japan and other countries. They work directly alongside these suppliers to form real, sustainable partnerships and develop unique and exclusive products.
For my first Chelsea boot launch with Viberg, I choose a wonderful calf suede from Charles F. Stead in UK, ideal for Autumn and Winter with its beautiful grey and brownish color hints.
The Chelsea boot is inspired by a 70’s archival style called the Romeo, which was a pull-on work boot with gore panels. When Viberg redeveloped this model in 2014, they made it with a single-piece upper, presenting a much cleaner pattern without any seams. The 2050 last, built specifically for the Chelsea, was inspired by vintage Argentinian riding boots.
The shape and clean lines of this last allow the Chelsea to be worn casually or semi-formal.

Luca is 1m80, 74kg, wears size 10.5 or EU44.5/US11.5/UK10.5
Luca wears Viberg's 2030 and 2040 last in size 10. He needed to increase to 10.5 on the Chelsea, because the last is pretty narrow to accommodate for a laceless boot.
Luca wears Shoes Like Pottery sneakers and most flat sneakers in EU44/US11/UK10.
