The Story

Viberg is still owned and managed by the same family since its creation in 1931.

They use traditional manufacturing methods and only the best components sourced from around the world: custom brass nails from Japan, heavyweight insoles from Spain, Vibram outsoles from Italy, eyelets and hardware from the USA and more.

Much of the manufacturing process looks the same today as it did when Edwin Viberg founded the company nearly 100 years ago. They have managed to preserve his methods and quality, while selectively introducing modern materials and techniques.

Their uncompromising approach to quality extends all the way through to the leather sourcing philosophy. They travelled the world to find tanneries that embody the same old world ideals and small batch production that they aim to preserve. Their leathers come mostly from small, family run tanneries in the USA, UK, Italy, France, Japan and other countries. They work directly alongside these suppliers to form real, sustainable partnerships and develop unique and exclusive products.

This boot is built on the 2040 last that references a vintage 1940s work boot. The fit of this last is semi anatomical meaning the forefront is wider to allow room across the ball of the foot, while the waist and heel narrow to secure the foot and cup the heel.
In addition, the toe box is slightly elevated creating a slight bump, which allows more room for your toes while working.
The 2040 fits similar in length to our 2030 last.
